HVAC leads: what they cost, from the sources that publish a price

HVAC is the trade where the published price depends most on what the homeowner actually wants. One source keeps a live HVAC page in this record, and it does something unusual with it: it prices repair leads and replacement leads separately, which is the distinction an HVAC contractor cares about and almost nobody else publishes.

Coverage means this source runs its own live page for this trade at the URL recorded here, checked on the date shown, rather than a claim to cover every trade. The median above is taken over the prices published for THIS trade only, and fresh leads and aged records are never averaged together: where a trade has a published fresh exclusive price the median is over those figures and the aged ones are reported beside them, and where a trade has only aged prices, as solar does here, the median is over those and the notes on the page say so.

Buying HVAC leads

Fixr's HVAC table separates the two jobs: repairs at $100 with an exclusive range of $80 to $120, full replacement at $150 with an exclusive range of $100 to $180. A replacement lead costs half as much again as a repair lead because the job behind it is worth several times more.

That split is the thing to ask every other source about before you buy. A source quoting one HVAC price is either averaging the two or selling only one of them, and which it is changes what you should pay by about fifty per cent.

Seasonality is the second question. HVAC demand spikes in weather extremes and lead prices move with it; a figure quoted to you in October is not a promise about July. Ask whether the price is fixed for a term or floats with demand.

Nobody else in this record publishes an HVAC figure. Angi, HomeAdvisor, Modernize and Service Direct all sell HVAC leads and none of them would let us read a price, which is a fact about their pages rather than about their prices.
