Plumber leads: what emergency work costs to buy
For a plumber the value of a lead depends on the clock more than on anything a seller can put on a rate card. A blocked drain at nine on a Sunday evening is worth several times the same enquiry on a Tuesday morning, and that is probably why no source in this record publishes a plumbing rate card at all. This page says what is knowable and refuses to invent the rest.
- median advertised lead price among the sources that publish one
- $95
- lead sources with a published, verified price
- 2
- trades with measured demand
- 8
Figures on this page come from the price record on this site: 2 of the seventeen lead sources checked publish a fresh exclusive lead price, and the median of those is $95.
- Every figure quoted from the source's own pageEach price below was fetched from the lead source's own page and matched word for word before it was published, with the date it was read. Re-running the ingest re-matches every one, so a repriced page fails rather than shipping a stale figure.
- Fresh and aged are counted apartA fresh exclusive lead and an aged record re-sold months later differ by a factor of a hundred. Averaging them would produce a number describing nothing anybody can buy, so they are reported separately everywhere on this site.
- Trade coverage is evidenced, not claimedA source covers a trade here only when its own live page for that trade answered at the URL we recorded, on the date shown.

Buying plumber leads
- Decide whether you take out-of-hours work. If you do, out-of-hours leads are the ones worth paying up for and you should be asking for them specifically. If you do not, you should not be paying an emergency-weighted blended rate.
- Get the delivery mechanism in writing. An emergency plumbing lead delivered by email digest is worthless. Text or a routed phone call is the product; a form in an inbox at the same price is a worse product sold as the same thing.
- Insist on exclusivity for urgent work. On a burst pipe the homeowner calls the first plumber who answers and stops. A shared emergency lead is a race, and if you are not structurally the fastest you are buying tickets you will lose.
- Price against your call-out plus average job. Plumbing tickets vary enormously. Use your own average invoice including the call-out rather than a headline figure, because that is what a lead is actually converting into.
Why plumbing is the least documented trade here
Not one of the seventeen sources checked publishes a plumbing figure. Every rate card in this record covers remodelling and exterior trades, where the job is planned, the value is predictable and a published number can survive contact with reality.
Emergency plumbing is the opposite of all three. The same enquiry is worth four times as much at 2am, which makes a single published rate either misleading or unprofitable, and probably explains the silence better than reticence does.
The nearest published anchor
HVAC repair leads are published at $100 with an exclusive range of $80 to $120. That is the closest analogue this record contains: an urgent fix to an existing system, a mid-hundreds to low-thousands ticket, and a homeowner who wants somebody today.
It is not a plumbing price and this site will not present it as one. It is useful for recognising a quote that is wildly out of proportion, and for holding a first conversation with something other than nothing.
Larger plumbing work
Re-pipes, bathroom plumbing and drainage work behave like remodelling: planned, compared, four-figure. The published remodelling exclusives at $150 and above are the right band to expect for enquiries like those.
If a source can separate planned work from emergency work in what it sells you, that separation is worth more than a discount, because you are otherwise buying two products at one price and losing on both.
Common questions
- What does a plumber lead cost?
- Nothing in this record publishes one. The closest published anchor is an HVAC repair lead at $100 with an exclusive range of $80 to $120, a comparable urgency and ticket.
- Why do emergency plumbing leads cost more?
- Because the homeowner calls until somebody answers and then stops. Being first is worth more in emergency plumbing than in any planned trade, and sellers price the hour as much as the trade.
- Are shared plumbing leads ever worth it?
- For planned work, yes. For emergencies, only if you genuinely answer within a minute, because the shared version of an urgent lead is a race with a small number of winners.
- Do free plumbing leads exist?
- Offers described as free are normally an introductory batch attached to a contract, or aged records bundled with a paid order. Nothing in this record publishes a genuinely free plumbing offer.
